HORRIPILATIONS
At the time we did this book Jeff Potter had yet to try digital photography. Everyone just assumed that's how he got his effects but it was actually all done in the alchemic laboratory of his darkroom, often with pictures taken on antique cameras
Curiously, for a book of mostly black and white pictures, it was printed in full colour because monochrome pictures simply come out better that way.
On the right is a pic JK took of me outside the Tate Gallery in London. I was going through a major existential crisis at the time and the general tone of his pictures matched that perfectly. As a person though, I found Jeff to be warm, generous and friendly. He just happens to have a wild and bizarre imagination.
